So a friend of mine from HS also recently got a FB account. I won't get into the sordid details here but long story short, she's been having an affair with a guy from their church. She was apparently having a rather explicit conversation with him on FB just before leaving to run to the grocery store. Her husband got on the computer after she left to check his email and prepare his sermon (yep, you read that right) and noticed that her FB page was up and open. The chat window was still displayed. Needless to say, things haven't been so good for them in the last 24 hours or so. They have teenage daughters. The man she was having an affair with has one teenage son and another son that's pre-teen. It's sickening for me to think of these kids being tied up in all of this when we live in such a rural area.
So while I love FB and think it's a great tool for "reconnecting" with people from your past. I'm guessing she should have taken a little more precaution and not been chatting it up with her lover so casually. *sigh*
She never struck me as the type. I'm really really disappointed.

Guess whhhattt!!! I am back!! I know only what you typed here and what we texted the other night. Ya know, I try hard not to judge people...oh Lord...we are all so pathetic in our own ways, ya know? But to know the many, many families that are torn apart over this kinda stuff sickens me. No marriage is truly "fireproof," but there are obviously those that you expect to not go down *this* particular road. Our former pastor's wife made a very wise statement one time. She said this: Sometimes you might have the desire but not the opportunity. Or you may have the opportunity but not the desire. It is when you have the meet up that you get yourself into trouble.
There was a friend of ours from years ago. Moved to Columbus....Sunday School teachers to the YOUNG MARRIED CLASS!! Him a Deacon in the church. She went to a funeral up here; ran into a former boyfriend who was a pastor--or at least some type of ministor on staff--at a church in Germantown. Had an affair. Husband found out. Divorced; with kids. Had EVERYTHING a family would want. Down the drain. She ain't still seeing the guy. Is truly remorseful. Down. The. Drain. SMJ
You know this kind of stuff particularly wounds me. So stupid to throw away so much over a little "excitement." I'll never understand it.
